Background
LANXESS are the Newbury based UK subsidiary of a global company that specialises in the development, manufacture and sale of chemicals, plastics and rubber to industries as diverse as cosmetics and tyres.
The Newbury office contains 16 office based employees, originally housed over three floors in both open plan and individual offices. The company looked to find new premises when the lease on their existing offices expired. They brought in Newbury Interiors to help with the complete fitting out of their new office space on the Hambridge Lane in Newbury, which now covers one floor only.

Critical issues
With their new office space covering just one floor, LANXESS had an idea about how they wanted the new layout to look, and Newbury Interiors worked closely with them on the design to ensure it not only met their criteria but would work effectively in practice. The new layout contains a mixture of open plan and cellular offices.
The specification for the fit out also included a type of data cabling that was requested by LANXESS headquarters in Germany, to ensure a high speed of data transfer between the two companies via their WAN 2MB megastream line. This cabling, although common in Europe, is not available in England so Newbury Interiors recommended and installed the highest available specification, CAT6A cabling to meet these requirements.
The whole project was carried out within the 6 week deadline that LANXESS had set for the move into their new offices.
