Background
Part of the Allianz Group, Kleinwort Benson serves high net worth individuals across the UK and Channel Islands. In 2006, with the business expanding, it became necessary to refurbish the Newbury offices, in order to bring them up to the standard necessary for increasing numbers of visiting customers.
The work, entailing a complete gut and refit, was made more complex by the need to complete work on the first floor during the course of a weekend, in order to maintain service during the working week.
Keen to establish links with a local specialist, Kleinwort Benson selected Newbury Interiors to handle the project through a competitive tendering process.
Scope of works
- Build open plan office space
- Design and build ground floor layout, including branded lobby areas
- Replace all ceilings
- Replace all lighting
- Replace all floor coverings
- Replace all wall coverings
- Install power, data and telecoms cabling
- Install air conditioning
Critical issues
In order to maintain client services, it was of paramount importance that works on the first floor were completed over the course of a weekend. Meticulous planning, expert project management and working almost round the clock through the weekend ensured that this was achieved.
